Michelle is a mixed media, pastel, oil and digital artist in Montreal, Canada. Born in Nova Scotia and raised in the Maritime provinces, she brings her love of nature, woodlands and the ocean as inspiration to her practice. In contrast, her current home in Montreal is a vibrant cosmopolitan artistic hub within North America, providing endless inspiration from other artists, murals, outdoor installations, galleries, street art, amazing architecture and a joie de vivre the vibrant city and community provides. All of this informs and inspires her work.

Michelle's artistic approach and vision has been evolving toward the abstract and abstract realism. Her work is often intuitive, without a clear up-front goal for what the finished piece should be, making each next move until it feels ‘done’.
Working to create depth, subtlety and sometimes mystery, focuses on the mood and emotions the work invokes in her and that she hopes may inspire in others.
She is fascinated with creating many layers and allowing some of the earlier layers to show through, while leaving some marks hidden beneath, a permanent record or energy within the work. Michelle often experiments with creating textures, and recently is experimenting with creating collage paper from Japanese Unryu paper, which has a delicate transparency and interesting texture. You will find it in some of her mixed media work.
Michelle's artistic background and earlier work focused on portraits and representational work in general for a few years, sometimes specializing in portrait commissions. Though she currently focus more often on abstract intuitive process work, she sometimes continues to work with representational themes particularly for commissions.
